Summer Fun: week one

I slacked off on posting about the rest of our summer fun week.  We did the progressive park playdate on Tuesday, and some friends joined us.  It was fun, but kind of tiring to go from park to park to park.  The good part was that if one park didn't have a slide, or swings or sand, the other one did.  The hard part was gathering everyone up and moving!

I also slacked off on taking pictures of the rest of the week!!  We got water guns and had LOTS of water playtime.  The boys put the hose on our play structure in back and made a water slide, and there was much squirting and getting wet.

Friday we had a "play videogames all day" day.  Sheesh.  I rented a new game from the store, and they did play ALL day.  Actually kind of scary.  I rented it early, so they had all day Friday, and all day today before it had to go back.

Today must have been sign up day.  Signed the boys up for VBS, signed Johnny up for Music Camp, and got the info for swim lesson sign up.  We also went and got the info on signing up for the reading program at the library.  Even I got to sign up for that one :)

One last thing from this week. . . . . . John and I celebrated 20 years of marriage!

Summer of Fun

Last year about this time, I was learning about what my 2nd round of chemo would entail.  Emily was just out of the hospital, but would be back in again in a month.  It wasn't a very fun summer.  In light of that, we've decided to have a summer of fun.

This is our "summer fun" chain.  Every night at dinner, I ask the kids what was fun that day, and we add a link for each "fun thing".  I'm pleased to say that it went up this morning, and we already have 4 links!  One was from last night, just to get us started.

Today's activities were getting ice cream cones at Rite Aid, and making the "Tinnissippi River" complete with boats!

This is Johnny's boat, complete with passenger.

Johnny and Jesse at the "mouth" of the river, though the sun was just too bright for Jesse!

 Launching the boats. . . . .

It didn't all go exactly as planned, but that turned out to be fun too.  And the resulting waterfight was fun.  The best part?  Everyone worked together and had some good laughs.  Oh, and they were all VERY eager to hear about tomorrow's activity.  Tomorrow will be P.P.P.P . . . . . . Puckett's Progressive Park Playday!
