Treasure quest and "dark out"

Finally getting to posting our last week activities. We had a great 3 night family activity at church: Treasure Quest. More effective if you imagine that being said with kind of an echo-y special effects type voice! These nights involved getting to know other families at church, picnic dinners on the lawn, singing, games and Bible stories, as well as interactive family time. The kids (and parents!) had a great time. The kids loved the treasure hunt, and really enjoyed the Bible stories too. The leaders did a wonderful job of making the Bible passages something they could really understand. I think one of the highlights was seeing one of the pastors loose his "treasure" (cotton candy) to a small rainstorm (squirt bottle) and then loose his back-up treasure to robbers! You can read more about that in Matt 6:19-21

In other news, we had a "dark out" last night. If you don't speak Johnny language, you might know that as a "power outage". The power went out at dinner time, and came back in the wee hours of the morning. At first this was fun--we had to use matches to light the stove for cooking, and all the neighbors were out in their yards visiting and trying to keep cool. After dark, the candles had a novelty of sorts, for a while. We got to play board games, read and visit ourselves. I think the kids enjoyed the "dark out" but were very ready to have lights, and all the modern conveniences back too!!

Oh, and to answer a few questions asked. . . . . no, we haven't seen any dimes appear yet, the pediatrician said all should be well, but if the dime comes out as 10 pennies to call him (everyone is a comedian I think!). So far Jesse seems normal, though I did notice him reaching for ANOTHER dime at the grocery store. . . . . .
